Brigid's music study as a child began with Flute over 15 years ago. She quickly expanded her range to include other Woodwind-family instruments, as well as Percussion and color guard through her school ensemble. Her middle and high school music study led her to pursue a degree in music, and her concentration was Music Education. She earned her Bachelor's in Music Education with a minor in Music for Well-Being from George Mason University.
As a performer, Brigid works with the Manassas Baptist Chorale and accompanies high schools during concert season. Some of her latest performances were with the George Mason Healing Arts Ensemble, Fauquier Steel Pans, and DC's Different Drummers color guard.
Through her studies, Brigid worked closely with Elle Mannette, the inventor of the Caribbean steel drum. She studied tenor and double seconds under Victor Provost while obtaining her degrees. Brigid has designed, managed and taught steel drum summer camps, as well as community ensembles featuring this instrument. Her students perform annually at the Virginia Beach International Panfest and for the Town of Warrenton's events such as First Friday and the Culture Festival.
Brigid has success teaching ages 3+ due to her belief that all people can safely express themselves and find joy within music. She actively works with Woodwind, Piano, and Guitar students of all ages. For those in school ensembles, she encourages participation in school events, and both children and adults are encouraged to join community groups. Brigid's students regularly achieve high seatings in District Band, Festivals, and other audition settings. She also actively coaches college prep students who are auditioning for music school to help with the audition requirements. For Brigid's solo instrument students (who are studying Piano and Guitar), she emphasizes participation in recital and showcase opportunities.
