    About Grady Housworth

Grady Housworth is a professional trombonist/keyboard player and music teacher from Decatur, GA who routinely plays throughout the southeast United States.

Beginning piano at age 8 and picking up the trombone two years later at age 10, he developed a strong interest in studying jazz music in particular throughout his teens. This led him to participate in the All State Jazz Band, the Governor's Honors Program as well as the Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra. Upon graduating high school, he attended Kennesaw State University where he studied with professors Wes Funderburk, Tyrone Jackson and Sam Skelton, among others. During his time in college he began to make a name for himself and play professionally, getting the opportunity to perform with artists like Teddy Swims, JID (on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts), Joe Gransden and Rhonda Thomas (at the Atlanta Jazz Festival).

Since graduating in 2022, Grady has pursued teaching as well as continuing to play professionally, opening for such musicians as Alan Parsons and Marc Broussard (as a member of the Tyler Neal Band) and Robert Glasper (performing with pianist Zach Wilson).

His musical interests range from production to arrangement as well as teaching, where he hopes to help students to develop an appreciation for music, and art as a whole, and how it can shape their lives, as it has his.
